Civil Service Exam testing centers in Region II.

The Civil Service Exam (CSE-PPT) is administered in the Cagayan Valley through the Civil Service Commission's field office based in Tuguegarao City. This page covers what applicants in Region II should know about testing in the region: where venues are typically located, how to get to them, the local weather to plan around, and how to actually prepare once your slot is confirmed.

Where venues are in Region II, and getting there

Cagayan Valley is one of the largest regions in Luzon by land area, and Batanes, its northernmost province, sits in the sea well off the mainland. Most testing capacity is in Tuguegarao and the major Isabela cities, which means applicants from Batanes or remote interior municipalities can face a long mainland trip, and Batanes residents may need to fly in.

The Civil Service Commission doesn't publish a fixed list of Region IIvenues — sites rotate between administrations depending on capacity and the schools available, and the exact venue and room are printed on each applicant's Examination Permit. When you register online you choose this region; the Commission then assigns your specific site, which may not be the city nearest your home. Your permit is the only authoritative source, so check it the moment it's issued.

Slots & registration

Tuguegarao and the Isabela cities host the bulk of the region's sites; given the region's spread, confirm your assigned venue early so you have time to arrange transport.

Weather to plan around

The Cagayan Valley is squarely in the typhoon belt and floods badly during the rainy season. The Cagayan River basin saw severe flooding in recent years. If your exam falls between July and November, build in generous buffer and watch weather advisories.

Notes for Region II examinees

  • ·Region II is geographically large; applicants from Batanes or remote municipalities should plan for significant travel (including air travel from Batanes) to a mainland venue.
  • ·Tuguegarao and major Isabela cities host most of the testing sites.
  • ·Weather in the Cagayan Valley can disrupt travel during the rainy months, so build in buffer time if your exam falls in that window.

Region II testing — common questions

How do Batanes applicants take the Civil Service Exam?+

Batanes has limited testing capacity, so applicants from the province often travel to a mainland venue in the Cagayan Valley, typically by air to Tuguegarao. Plan flights well ahead and check your permit for the assigned site as soon as it's available.

Is flooding a risk for exams in the Cagayan Valley?+

Yes, during the rainy season. The region is in the typhoon belt and the Cagayan River basin is flood-prone, so if your exam falls between July and November, monitor weather advisories and allow extra travel time.
